The new administration and the GOP-led Congress are poised to overhaul the U.S. tax code for the first time in over 30 years.  This presentation will summarize the competing Tax Reform proposals, along with the implications for plastics and rubber processors.

In addition, numerous tax incentives are available to plastics and rubber processors.  Mike Devereux will discuss the following incentives that many plastic and rubber processors utilize to keep them competitive in a global economy:

  • The R&D Tax Credit:  New legislation will allow many processors to monetize their research credits faster by offsetting the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT).  Further, new regulations expand upon a company’s eligible research expenditures.
  • The Domestic Production Activities Deductions:  The IRS has issued new rules to determine which taxpayers may claim the manufacturers’ deduction in contract manufacturing arrangements.
  • Interest Charge – Domestic International Sales Corporation (IC-DISC):  This popular tax incentive allows companies to reduce their overall income tax liabilities associated with their export sales.
  • Work Opportunity Tax Credit:  This incentive provides tax credits for processors that hire within specific targeted groups, such as veterans, families on food stamps, and more.
